Introduction

Vidara ("we," "us," "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information when you use our video hosting service (the "Service").

As a privacy-focused platform, we collect only the data we need to operate the Service, pay our publishers accurately, and keep the platform free of abuse. We never sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties.

Who Is Responsible for Your Data

Vidara is the data controller for the purposes of this Policy. You can reach us about any data protection matter at [email protected], and we will respond within the timeframes set out in Section 12.

By using the Service, you agree to the data practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, please do not use the Service.

1. Information We Collect

We collect different types of information depending on how you use the Service:

1.1 Account Registration Information

  • Email address: Used for account verification, communication, and password recovery
  • Username: Your chosen display name on the Service
  • Password: Stored in hashed format using industry-standard encryption
  • IP address: Collected at registration for security and abuse prevention
  • Device information: Browser type, operating system, and device type for security purposes

1.2 Information from Viewers (Non-Registered Users)

  • IP address: Used for view measurement, security, fraud prevention, and legal compliance
  • Browser and device information: Browser type, operating system, device type, and screen resolution, for video delivery and for distinguishing genuine views from automated ones
  • Playback and interaction data: Described in full in Section 1.4 — please read it, as it is more detailed than the two lines above

We do not require viewers to create accounts or provide personal information to watch videos.

1.3 Video Content and Metadata

  • Video files: The actual video content you upload
  • File metadata: File size, duration, format, resolution, codec information
  • Upload timestamp: Date and time of upload
  • Thumbnails: Automatically generated for previews

We do not scan or analyze the content of uploaded videos for purposes other than technical processing.

1.4 Playback and View-Measurement Data

Advertising revenue is shared with publishers on a per-view basis, so we have to be able to tell a genuine human view from an automated or duplicated one. When a video page is watched, we record a measurement record for that view. We want to be specific about what that contains, because it is more than simple page counting:

  • Network and location: IP address, and the country derived from it
  • Device and browser: browser name, operating system and platform, screen and viewport size, graphics adapter (GPU) and processor core count, browser plugin count, whether certain browser APIs are present, timezone
  • Playback: the video watched, watch duration, time spent on the page, how often the tab was hidden or lost focus
  • Interaction: a sampled series of mouse-pointer positions and click positions on the page, each with a timestamp, and summary measures derived from them
  • Session and integrity signals: a session identifier, the referring page, whether an ad blocker is present, and whether playback occurred inside an embedded web view

This is per-view data, not anonymous aggregate data. Each record is stored against the publisher whose video was watched and includes the viewer's IP address. We use it to count views, calculate publisher earnings, and detect artificial or fraudulent traffic. We do not use it to build advertising profiles of viewers, and we do not track viewers across other websites.

The interaction signals in particular exist to distinguish humans from bots. We do not use them to identify who you are, and we do not sell or share them.

We separately use Cloudflare for content delivery and aggregate traffic statistics. Cloudflare's aggregate analytics do not use cookies and do not track individuals across websites.

1.4.1 IP Reputation Checks

To identify views arriving through VPNs, proxies, hosting providers, and anonymising networks — which are a common source of artificial traffic — we send viewer IP addresses to ProxyCheck.io, a third-party IP reputation service, and cache the result. Only the IP address is sent. No account details, email address, or video content is shared with this service, and it is not used for advertising.

1.4.2 Legal Basis (EEA/UK)

Where the UK GDPR or EU GDPR applies, we rely on the following legal bases:

  • Contract — operating your account, hosting and delivering your videos, calculating and paying your earnings
  • Legitimate interests — measuring views, detecting fraudulent and artificial traffic, securing the Service and preventing abuse. Our interest is in paying publishers accurately and keeping the platform viable; we have weighed this against the privacy impact on viewers and limited the data accordingly
  • Legal obligation — responding to lawful requests and retaining records where the law requires it
  • Consent — where consent is required for cookies or similar technologies used by third-party advertising, and which you may withdraw at any time

1.5 Payment Information (Paid Subscriptions)

We accept cryptocurrency payments only for subscriptions, to keep payment private. When you purchase a subscription:

  • Transaction ID: Stored for subscription verification purposes
  • No card or bank data: We do not collect credit card or bank account information for subscriptions
  • Cryptocurrency transactions are processed through third-party providers; we do not access wallets or financial details

A subscription may also be paid for using your accrued publisher balance. In that case we record the amount spent and link it to the subscription; no external payment provider is involved.

1.5.1 Payout Information (Publisher Earnings)

If you take part in the publisher earnings programme, we collect and store the payout details you provide so that we can pay you. Depending on the method you choose this includes:

  • Payout destination: your cryptocurrency wallet address (for example USDT, Bitcoin or Litecoin), or your PayPal address
  • Payout records: amounts requested and paid, fees, dates, status, and the transaction reference for a completed payment

A payout address is personal financial information. We store it against your account, use it only to send you money you have earned, and retain payout records for as long as required for accounting, tax, and fraud-prevention purposes. Changing your payout details requires re-authentication, and where you have enabled two-factor authentication, a valid code.

1.6 Cookies, Local Storage and Session Management

Cookies we set ourselves are strictly necessary ones only:

  • Authentication cookies to keep you logged in
  • Session cookies to maintain preferences and session state

We also use your browser's local storage to remember your playback position in a video, so that returning to it resumes where you left off. That value stays in your browser.

We set no advertising or tracking cookies of our own and do not use cookies to build profiles or track you across other websites. This statement covers our own cookies; third-party advertising networks may set their own, as described in Section 1.7.

1.7 Third-Party Advertising

Video pages may display ads by third-party networks. We do not share your personal data, email, or content with these networks. They may independently collect information such as pages viewed, IP address, and cookie data. We have no control over their tracking technologies, and their practices are governed by their own privacy policies.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • Service Operation: Managing accounts, authenticating users, hosting and streaming videos, generating thumbnails, verifying subscriptions
  • Communication: Account notifications, support responses, TOS and Privacy Policy updates. No marketing emails without consent
  • Security and Abuse Prevention: Detecting and preventing fraud, spam, malicious activity, and enforcing TOS
  • Analytics and Service Improvement: Understanding user interactions, improving performance, and resolving technical issues
  • Legal Compliance: Responding to lawful requests, enforcing legal rights

3. Data Storage and Security

3.1 Storage

Your data is stored securely using industry-standard measures to prevent unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction.

3.2 Security Measures

  • Encryption: Passwords hashed; transmissions encrypted via HTTPS/TLS
  • Access Controls: Limited to authorized personnel
  • Infrastructure Security: Firewalls, intrusion detection, regular updates
  • Monitoring: Continuous monitoring for suspicious activity

3.3 Data Retention

  • Account data & uploaded content: Retained while your account is open, and until a deletion request is processed
  • Per-view measurement records (Section 1.4, including viewer IP addresses and interaction signals): Retained in raw form only for a short operating window — long enough to validate views, calculate earnings, and investigate suspected fraud — after which they are removed. Aggregated earnings totals, which contain no viewer IP address or interaction data, are kept for as long as they are needed to maintain publisher balances and payout records
  • Security and audit logs: Retained up to 2 years, then deleted unless the law requires longer
  • Payment and payout records (including transaction IDs and payout addresses): Retained for as long as needed for accounting, tax, and fraud-prevention purposes, which is normally several years under applicable law

Some data may be retained longer where necessary for legal compliance, an active investigation, or the resolution of a dispute.

3.4 Limitations

No system is completely secure. You use the Service at your own risk.

4. Data Sharing and Disclosure

  • No Sale of Personal Information: We never sell, rent, or trade your personal information
  • Service Providers: Limited sharing for cloud hosting, analytics, and payment verification; providers must protect data and use it only for the specified purpose
  • Legal Obligations: Minimal disclosure to comply with laws, respond to authorities, protect rights, prevent fraud or illegal activity. Users notified when legally permitted
  • Business Transfers: In mergers or sales, information may be transferred to the acquiring entity, which will honor this Privacy Policy
  • Third-Party Ads: Advertising networks operate independently; we do not share personal data

6. International Data Transfers

By using the Service from outside our operating region, you consent to data transfer to and processing in our region. GDPR-compliant safeguards are implemented for EEA users.

7. Children's and Young People's Privacy

7.1 Minimum Ages

You must be at least 13 to view content on the Service, and at least 18 to hold an account, upload content, or take part in the publisher earnings programme.

The Service is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If we learn that we have collected information from a child under 13 without the consent of a parent or guardian, we delete it. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with information, contact [email protected] and we will act promptly.

7.2 Viewers Aged 13 to 17

Because account registration is limited to adults, we do not knowingly hold account data for anyone under 18. However, viewers aged 13 to 17 may watch content, and the per-view measurement described in Section 1.4 applies to their views as it does to any other.

We therefore want to be clear about what we do and do not do with that data:

  • We do not use viewing, interaction, or device data to build advertising or behavioural profiles of viewers
  • We do not use it to target advertising to a viewer based on their past behaviour
  • We do not attempt to identify individual viewers or link their activity across other websites
  • We use it to count views, pay publishers correctly, and detect artificial traffic — and for nothing else

Third-party advertising shown on video pages is described in Section 1.7. Those networks operate independently of us and may collect information under their own policies; we do not share account or viewer data with them.

7.3 Age-Restricted Content

Publisher accounts are classified as Mainstream or Adult, and content published from Adult-classified accounts is intended for viewers aged 18 and over only. Minors must not access it. Parents and guardians are responsible for supervising the use of the Service by children in their care.

7.4 Parental Requests

A parent or legal guardian may contact [email protected] to ask what information we hold relating to their child, to request its deletion, or to object to its processing. We will respond to such requests as a priority.

8. Do Not Track (DNT)

We do not respond to DNT signals, but we collect minimal data and do not engage in cross-site tracking or behavioral advertising.

9. Third-Party Links and Services

We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of third-party sites. Review their privacy policies when visiting.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes take effect upon updating the "Last Updated" date and posting the revised policy. Material changes will be communicated at least 30 days in advance. Continued use constitutes acceptance.

11. Our Privacy Commitment

  • We collect what we need to run the Service and pay publishers accurately, and we tell you plainly what that is
  • We do not scan or analyse the content of your videos, and we do not mine it
  • We never sell, rent, or trade your data
  • We do not build advertising or behavioural profiles of viewers, and we do not track anyone across other websites
  • We do not set advertising or tracking cookies of our own
  • We keep raw per-view records only as long as we need them, then remove them
  • You can access, correct, export, and delete your data
  • We disclose to authorities only the minimum required, and tell you when we are permitted to

Where third-party advertising appears on video pages, those networks act independently and under their own policies — see Section 1.7.
